So what is PPV Marketing?

PPV (Pay Per View) also referred to as CPV or Cost Per View marketing.

PPV traffic comes from dedicated networks that show ads to people who have downloaded a special piece of software called "adware". Once the software is installed, the user then has access to free games, screensavers or content in exchange for viewing a limited number of ads per day. When the user visits a URL that you are bidding on or a page that contains the KEYWORDS that you are bidding on the ad will pop up on the users screen.

For example, if you are promoting a dating offer you might bid on a URL like singlesnet.com. When a surfer who has the adware installed visits singlesnet.com, your ad will pop up in a separate window on top or below the main browser window depending if you have chosen a POP OVER or a POP UNDER.

Is this Spyware?

There is a common misconception that this type of traffic comes from spyware and this could not be FURTHER from the truth. The people who have this software installed on their PC have agreed to install the software which enables them to play games, get screensavers or view premium content in exchange for viewing a few ads per day.

Another misconception is that these ads won’t show due to pop up blockers. Through the technology used, these ads will show regardless if the user has a pop up blocker installed or not.

Right now, PPV is like PPC was several years ago. The competition is managable and the URLs that you can target are endless.
